Naropa After Hours Crisis Line

This message is to officially announce the launch of the new Naropa After Hours Crisis Line: as of today any Naropa University student experiencing a mental-health related emergency at a time when the on-campus counseling staff is unavailable will be able to access confidential support and professional help by calling 1-866-814-1545.

From 5 pm to 9 am on every school Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 5 pm on Friday until 9 am on the next school day, and through any holiday (or more simply: any time the school is closed), by calling this number our Naropa community members will have access, through a pager system, to the help of excellently trained professional psychotherapists from within the Emergency Psychiatric Service Team that already provides 24-hour coverage for the local Mental Health Center. Our own counseling staff will then be able to provide integrated follow-up as needed, based on the specific circumstances.

Please be aware that this is a pilot program that we plan to revisit in May and hopefully to improve and establish year-round from then on. We will ask for your feedback, but you are welcome to offer it to us spontaneously: it is always welcome, as are any questions you may have about this new service. Most importantly, please help us to make sure that other people in our community are aware of this resource, and that the NAHCL number is as widely available as possible.

In the spirit of service,
Grazia
